does anyone else do this? or is it a borderline thing? it's just that i'm supposed to be quitting, and i'm craving it really bad and it would be cool to talk to somebody about it.

I have done it but not as bad as some people I have seen. Sometimes I will just scratch and scratch my skin until it is raw. I have done the whole knife thing. I have this craving to put a nail through my wrist, what's up with that. Maybe I think I need to be crucified. My husband is afraid I might shoot myself someday so he won't let me know the combo to the safe. My major thing that i do is bang my hands, fists mostly on my thighs. I give myself bruises.

My ten year old daughter would scratch herself till she bled and then pick the scabs. Her arms where covered. I thought she would never stop. Had to change her meds and that seemed to work.

Just come here and you will have plenty of sponsors. Are you doing any kind of therapy? If so does it seem to help. How about other social outlets?

Yes, I've had a problem with self-injury, too. It makes me feel so ashamed when I do it because I know its weird. I started out cutting my wrists. I'd use anything I could get my hands on--car keys, forks, etc. At work I used the scissors. Then it graduated to my legs. In fact I still have a scar on my leg. None of my cuts have needed stitches or anything. I told my mom what I had been doing and, although she was pretty freaked, she was very supportive. I can tell she's worried about me now. She checks on me a lot when I'm alone in my room. People ask me "why in the world would you want to cut yourself?" Well, several reasons. It makes me feel something. To stop feeling numb. Sometimes I would be so mad or frustrated, having a cut on my leg would be physical proof of my anger. I don't know. Anyways, just wanted to let you know that you are not alone in the habit!

I'm 29 years old and I have cut myself on the arms, wrists, legs, and stomach for over ten years. I use razor blades, knives and broken pieces of glass.
I also burn myself. I have been diagnosed with Bipolar disorder and Borderline Personality disorder, so I'm not sure if it's associated with one of the
disorders more than the other. It makes me feel better and takes away the emotional pain I'm feeling, when I hurt myself.

I do not cut myself because I hate the site of blood and that would be too painful for me. I do however punch my legs or have someone else just hit them for
me. It's weird because sometimes I'll get in these really evil and angry moods where if I punch my legs I feel better. Like it's a release of some
kind. The good thing about this is it just leaves bruises behind but I choose the legs because you can't see them and it's more room. Wish I could of
been some more help!
